Life, A Little Travel, & A Lot Of Fitness During A “Lockdown”
We in America have had it fairly easy when it comes to events of this magnitude. We hear about it on the news once a year of a far away land dealing with a virus or disease that most of us will never fully comprehend. That, of course, is not our fault since as humans, we can usually only appreciate, good or bad, something that happens to us or near us. Finally, a time has come in our American lifetime (if you were alive in 1918 and are reading this, I am honored) where we see it unfolding right before our eyes and life will be different for a little while.
Being a company that travels the globe, we look at the world view of this and care deeply about the places that have been so gracious to host us. They have allowed us to do what we love to do, which is to show you how fun the world can be. We are of course monitoring and keeping track of the situations in all of those locations, not just for the trips, but for the well being of our friends and checking in with them to ask if we can do anything from afar. If the emergence of this virus has taught us anything, it is how small the world is. While conflicts in this day and age will never stop completely, it is always easy to be civil and help those that need it no matter where they are from or where they live, especially in times like these.
With the closing down of restaurants, bars, gyms, stores, and basically all the things we like to do, we must find a way to still be human. It is and will be so easy to get done with your work from home tasks and sit on the couch flipping through the plethora of streaming services.
Since we at VoyEdge RX are also about fitness and taking care of ourselves, it is important for us, our followers, and everyone to look after themselves especially since you may find yourself at home with not much to do.
For me, I am lucky enough to be able to workout at one of the best CrossFit gyms in the Northeast U.S., which is CrossFit Southie. They are one of the establishments doing their part to get rid of the virus as soon as possible and to do that, they have shut down for an undetermined amount of time. To keep them going in these trying times, many members have kept their memberships open, and in return, CrossFit Southie has let those members borrow any equipment they want to bring home in order to keep up on their fitness and their goals.
Before I left after the last class, I was able to snag a 53# kettlebell, 45# plate, 20# wallball, one 55# dumbbell, and one adjustable dumbbell with different weight plates. Over the next “undetermined amount of time” I will be following home workouts put out by CrossFit Southie and also coming up with some on my own.
If you have any go to workouts or think of one, please comment below so hopefully on a day or two I won’t have to think so hard! Much appreciated!
Stay Home. Do Squats. Do Push Ups. Do Your Part.
