Workout of the Week: SISU Dillon - 1.19.2017

SISU Dillon

If you are not from Minnesota, as many of you out there are not, it might come as a surprise, or not much of one at all, that we are a little different breed here in fly over country. In all my travels to the East coast and beyond I have realized that not a whole heck of a lot of people *cough*Americans*cough* don't even know where it is located on a map, but really that is the way we like it.

CrossFit SISU is the real deal out here in MN. Make it an absolute drop-in if you're here.

Being born and bred here (Minnesota) you quickly learn the aspect of “one of us”. Minnesotans love people from the state because they are one of us and they get why we fend off the miserable winters or deal with the swarms of mosquitoes that carry us away in the summer. We like it here. It suits us. It builds character. Makes us hearty.

So, there you get a sense of where this week’s workout might be going. On January, 14th 2016 a helicopter carrying Minnesotan Sgt. Dillon Semolina and 11 fellow marines crashed off the coast of Hawaii during a training mission killing everyone on board. To honor him the best way the CrossFit community knows how, CrossFit SISU created a workout containing his favorite movements. He was one of us. Let’s get to it:

500 meter row

Then:

3 Rounds

12 thrusters (135/95)

12 pull-ups

12 power cleans (135/95)

12 bar over burpees

Then:

500 meter row

My gym, Crusher CrossFit, was happy to participate in the workout this past Saturday. I never met Dillion but I am sure we would have gotten along famously since his favorite movements line up very well with mine.

To Dillon....

To Dillon....

If you have some time or need some inspiration give Dillon a whirl and see what happens. For the duration of the workout we can make you an honorary Minnesotan. Maybe you will get that “one of us” feeling!

Post your times below.

To Dillon. Cheers.
