5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CROATIA

1. Croatia is Very Small

If you look at Croatia on a map of Europe you will notice how teeny tiny it is. This is great because it doesn't take too much time to explore the whole thing. Every major town or old city, is amazing, with a different vibe from each. I recommend starting your trip in the modern capital of Zagreb, before working your way down to the southern reaches of the country.

2. Croatia is Home to Stunning National Parks

Croatia is truly a beautiful place, and home to some of the most stunning national parks in the world. Both Krka National Park and Plitvice National Park are breathtaking waterfall parks found in the northern half of the country. Walking through these locations is an experience unlike any other. The cascading blues and greens of these parks will make you feel like you have been transported to Peter Pan's Neverland. And, just like Neverland, you will never want to leave. In fact, it is rumored that Croatia has been the inspiration for many fairytale lands that have grown popular in the present time.

3. Croatia is Home to the Bluest Ocean in the World

I have been to many aquatic locations all over the globe, and nothing has held a candle to the blue ocean of the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Croatia. Bright sapphire blue, yet clear as the Caribbean, this Sea is truly spectacular to behold. Definitely bring your swimsuit, and take advantage of diving into this cool and refreshing water. Water sports are abundant all along the coast, and should absolutely be taken advantage of. It is a memory you won't soon forget.

4. Croatia is Home to Delicious Sea Food

Like any coastal town, Croatia offers a bevy of outstanding seafood for you to consume. With the Adriatic teeming with life, Croatia can offer fresh fish to the table on a daily basis. I highly recommend walking up to one of the many mom and pop seafood restaurants found in these coastal cities, and ordering whatever they recommend most. Like everything in Croatia, it will not disappoint.

5. Croatian Cities Embrace Old Town Feel in a Modern World

Every major port city in Croatia is absolutely stunning. Although Croatia is a relatively new nation in the history of the world, the locations of these cities and port towns have been around since the great Roman Empire, and the architecture shows. The beauty of the walled city of Dubrovnik is so spectacular, in fact, that it was used to represent Kings Landing in the hit HBO show Game of Thrones. These cities are rich with history, and a trip to explore.
